1. App overview

Wegemann is an Android app for local speech-to-text transcription. The app can record audio through the microphone or process audio files selected by the user. Transcription is performed on the device using local Whisper models.

3. Microphone permission

The app requests access to the microphone using android.permission.RECORD_AUDIO. This permission is used only when the user chooses to record audio in the app. The recorded audio is processed locally on the device for transcription.

4. Audio files and transcription

When the user selects an audio file, the app processes that file locally on the device. Audio files and generated transcripts are not uploaded to our servers for transcription.

5. Transcript history

The app may store generated transcripts locally on the device if transcript history is enabled. Users can disable transcript history and delete stored transcripts in the app settings.

6. Whisper model downloads

The app may download optional Whisper model files through Google Play Asset Delivery. These downloads are provided by Google Play infrastructure and are required for selected local transcription models.

7. Data sharing

We do not receive, sell or share users' audio recordings or transcripts. Transcription is designed to run locally on the user's device.

8. Advertising ID

The current internal test version does not use the Android Advertising ID. If advertising features are added in a future version, this privacy policy will be updated before release.

9. Data retention

Locally saved transcripts remain on the device until the user deletes them, disables transcript history with deletion, clears app data, or uninstalls the app.

10. User rights

Because transcription data is stored locally on the user's device and not transmitted to us, users can control this data directly in the app or through Android app storage settings. For privacy questions, contact [email protected].

11. Changes to this policy

This privacy policy may be updated when app features change, especially if cloud features, advertising, analytics or account functionality are added in the future.
